Mortgage rates drop and mortgage applications jump

According to the Mortgage Bankers Association's weekly survey, rates averaged 5.04% last week (down from 5.18% the week before). How low is that? Well, that's where rates were 5 years ago. Also, the activity of mortgage applications was almost 125% of what it was a year ago. Somebody is borrowing money, so don't tell me nothing is happening.
