30-year fixed rates below 5 percent

According to Freddie Mac, mortgage rates dropped for the 11th straight weekly to new record lows. Interest rates for 30-year fixed rate mortgages averaged 4.96% this week (down from 5.01% the previous week). Needless to say, this has caused a spike in home refinancing loans rates. 15-year fixed rates averaged 4.65 %.
